World Designer

Guerrilla’s Amsterdam studio is most recently known for Horizon Zero Dawn. We’re looking for a World Designer with combat encounter creation or mission creation experience in an open world setting to work on our future projects. 

What You Will Do

  • You will be part of a small team tasked with creating ground-breaking, innovative gameplay with a focus on story and characters
  • You will work with fellow Designers, Artists and Writers to formulate a pitch and see it through the approval process
  • You will build a barebones version of the setting that includes the placement of important vegetation, roads, buildings and landmarks
  • You will painstakingly debug and make adjustments to your designs based on feedback

Who You Are

  • You have a proven track record of at least one shipped title
  • You are comfortable with both conceptual and practical aspects of game design
  • You work well in a small team, are open to constructive criticism, and know how to listen and give feedback to others
  • You are comfortable with a development schedule that is playtest driven and focused on iteration and polish
  • You are self-motivated, willing to prototype and pitch your own design ideas to the team
  • You are happy to document, develop, bug fix and “own” your ideas, overseeing them from concept through to final implementation
  • You have experience with one or more of the following:
    • Encounter or Mission design; player flow through a space, player goals, focused story development
    • Mechanics and level experience; player mechanics, mission design, etc.

Plusses

  • You have a technical background in programming or scripting
  • You have experience with 3D world and level building tools
  • You have experience developing Open World games
  • You have a passion for creating rich narrative experiences
