This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into how high-quality real-time cinematics are crafted within a AAA game development environment, learning alongside some of the industry’s leading talent.
Our Cinematics Team is a multidisciplinary group focused on creating compelling real-time scripted sequences that support and elevate our storytelling.
The team is composed of specialists across layout and previsualization, body and facial animation, and sequence integration. Together, they collaborate closely with Narrative, Gameplay, and Art to craft immersive and emotionally engaging experiences.
As an intern, you will gain insight into how these different disciplines work together, observing workflows, participating in discussions, and learning how cinematic content is developed at Guerrilla.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
As a Cinematic Animation Intern, your primary focus will be learning and development. You will:
- Observe and learn from experienced animators and cinematic artists across different sub-teams
- Gain insight into layout, previsualization, body animation, facial animation, and sequence integration
- Build an understanding of how cinematic storytelling translates into real-time game content
- Follow the development process from narrative ideation through to final implementation
- Participate in reviews, team discussions, and feedback sessions to understand quality standards
- Work on learning assignments, exercises, or personal projects guided by the team
- Explore both creative and technical aspects of animation within a professional production environment
This role is centered around learning, observation, and growth, offering a unique opportunity to experience how AAA cinematics are developed at Guerrilla.
WHO YOU ARE
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Are currently studying (or recently graduated in) Animation, Game Development, or a related field
- Have a strong interest in cinematic animation and storytelling in games
- Demonstrate a solid foundation in keyframe animation, with an eye for performance, timing, and posing
- Show curiosity and openness to learning both artistic and technical aspects of animation
- Are proactive in developing your skills through school or personal projects
- Are comfortable receiving feedback and using it to grow
- Have strong working experience with Maya, and are comfortable using it as your primary animation tool
- Have basic experience working in a game engine (e.g. Unreal), including integrating animation data and working with sequencers or timeline-based systems
- Have a natural curiosity for the technical side of animation and how creative work translates into real-time systems
- Communicate clearly and enjoy working in a collaborative environment
Plusses
- Exposure to motion capture workflows and editing (nice to have, not required)
- Interest in cinematic layout, camera work, or visual storytelling
- Basic understanding of game engines or real-time pipelines
- Curiosity about technical animation or implementation workflows
