GENERAL TIPS

  • Get the latest patch.

Have you encountered an issue with Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds or Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition? Always make sure you’re playing with the latest patch installed, because a solution may have already been implemented! To check which patch you’re on, select the game tile on the PlayStation 4 dashboard, press the [OPTIONS] button on your controller and choose ‘Information’. The patch number is listed under ‘Version’.

  • Create manual saves.

Make frequent manual saves of your game, especially prior to starting new quests. Quick saves at campfires are extremely handy for saving your progress within a Quest, but they’re automatically overwritten after six successive quick saves. A manual save provides you with a lasting fixed point in the game to fall back on if you want to replay a section.

HORIZON ZERO DAWN

Please note: This FAQ may contain spoilers!

NEW GAME+

How do I start New Game+? The option is greyed out on the Main Menu.

To start New Game+, load (or continue from) a saved game that you created after you completed the final quest, then press [OPTIONS] on your controller and select 'Create New Game+ Loadout'. You can now quit to the Main Menu, where the New Game+ option will be selectable.

How do I unlock the different face paint schemes for Aloy?

In order to unlock the face paint schemes for Aloy in the visual settings menu, you need to finish New Game+ on ‘Hard’ difficulty or higher.

Does New Game+ raise the level cap beyond 50?

New Game+ doesn’t raise the level cap, but it does allow additional experience gains to be tracked with so-called ‘Ghost Levels’.  These are awarded every 100,000XP, with no upper limit.

MAIN QUESTS

I’m unable to fast-travel out of combat in ‘Terror of the Sun’, ‘The Womb of the Mountain’, ‘The Sun Shall Fall’, ‘To Curse the Darkness’, ‘Deep Secrets of the Earth’...

This is by design. Fast travel is not allowed in these fights.

After finishing the game and watching the credits, I was returned to the quest ‘The Looming Shadow’. Is there something wrong?

This is by design. You may now continue to explore the world of Horizon Zero Dawn before the final mission.

I’m pretty sure I gathered all the power cells. Why does the game say I’m still missing one?

Please backtrack and search all previous locations where power cells could be found. Usually, the power cells are still there.

Why does a red cross appear over the exclamation mark when I try to use the lure call?

The exclamation mark indicates there’s no target in the vicinity that can be lured in.

HUNTING GROUNDS

I’m having difficulties with the ‘Sleight of Crate’ trial at the Spurflints Hunting Grounds. What I see in the game doesn’t correspond with the videos/guides I’ve consulted.

The ‘Sleight of Crate’ trial was tweaked post-launch, and may therefore no longer match existing videos/guides. We recommend to use a more run and gun approach. Slide down the rope en more to the left, get the two crates and make your way over to the right.

100% COMPLETION

I have not achieved 100% completion. Is this because my quest log has an ‘X’ next to an objective in a quest/activity?

No, failing an objective does not affect completion of a quest.

I have not achieved 100% completion.  What am I missing?

To achieve 100% completion, you need the following:

Activities completed:

  • Tallnecks – 5
  • Hunting grounds – 5
  • Bandit camps – 6
  • Cauldrons – 4

  • Vantage points – 12

Shadow Items found:

  • Outfits – 9
  • Weapons – 8

Machines scanned:

  • Machines – 26

Please note: Datapoints do not count towards 100% completion.

POWER CELLS

I missed the power cell in the Womb of the Mountain quest. How do I obtain it?

You will be able to retrieve the power cell during a later quest.

The power cell is not appearing in the correct location, how do I obtain it?

Given the fact that you have the latest patch installed, all power cells will appear at their locations. In case you fear that you missed one, please use this guide to obtain all power cells.

HORIZON ZERO DAWN: THE FROZEN WILDS

Please note: This FAQ may contain spoilers!

Which level do I need to be at to enjoy Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds?

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds has been tuned for players at level 30 and higher. Players below this threshold may find the expansion content too challenging.

I pre-ordered Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. How do I claim my exclusive PS4 avatar?

A voucher code for the exclusive PS4 avatar is sent to the email address registered to your PSN ID. Customers in US and Canada receive the voucher code upon pre-ordering; customers in Europe receive the voucher code upon release of the expansion.

If you haven’t received the voucher code email and believe this to be in error, check your junk email folder. If you still can’t find the voucher code email, please contact PlayStation Support for further assistance.

I purchased and downloaded Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. Why is it not showing up in the main game?

If you’ve purchased and downloaded the expansion but the logo isn’t showing in the top right corner of the main game’s title screen, please close the application and try restoring the license for Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds:

Go to [Settings] > [Account Management] > [Restore Licenses] and select [Restore].

Next, start Horizon Zero Dawn again. If the expansion logo still isn’t showing and you’re using a physical copy of Horizon Zero Dawn, make sure the region for the expansion matches the title ID of the main game. You can find the title ID on the disc or on the side of the packaging for Horizon Zero Dawn; it starts with ‘CUSA’ followed by five numbers.

Below is a list of title IDs for Horizon Zero Dawn and the corresponding compatible regions for Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds.

The expansion content is available to players regardless of the playthrough they’re on. Keep in mind that the expansion content offers a greater challenge than the main game, and that this difficulty increase may be especially noticeable during a New Game+ playthrough.

In Horizon Zero Dawn, the difficulty level for a New Game+ playthrough can’t be changed after selecting it. Can I change the difficulty level for a New Game+ playthrough in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds?

I played New Game + and all my ghost levels are gone, what happened?

With the release of Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds all the ghost levels have been frozen, and the level cap has been increased to  60. Once you hit level 60, your ghost levels will become active again.

Where can I find the new expansion content?

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds adds several quest-givers to the main game region, who will point players to a new region called ‘The Cut’.  These new quest givers can be recognized by a new blue marker over their heads in the following locations:

  • Outside Meridian you can find Rhavid, a Carja Noble with information and speculation about the Banuk border lands
  • Inside the Carja border fort, Daytower, speak with Ohtur for directions to the Cut
  • North of the Grave Hoard Aloy can find Yariki, a Banuk woman on her way out of the Cut with dire warnings about the dangers found to the north

It appears there’s a new form of currency in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. Do my collected shards still have value?

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds introduces a new currency called ‘Bluegleam’, which can be traded for very rare weapons and outfits. Shards continue to have value, and can still be traded for resources and items, as well as treasure boxes, weapons and outfits of the uncommon and rare variety.

I searched all over but I still haven't collected all the Bluegleam. What should I do?

You can purchase a map with the location of all pieces of Bluegleam from one of the merchants in The Cut.

Please note: Not all of the Bluegleam is located in The Cut itself - there's a merchant in Meridian who sells some as well!

I cleared out six bandit camps. Why isn’t the ‘Cleared all Bandit Camps’ trophy dropping?

The ‘Cleared all Bandit Camps’ trophy is part of the main game; the bandit camp in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds doesn’t count towards the total required to obtain the trophy.

If you’ve cleared out every bandit camp in Horizon Zero Dawn and the trophy still doesn’t drop, try manually syncing trophies with the server: go to Trophies and hit the [Options] button, then select the ‘Sync’ option.

The ‘All Tallnecks Overridden’ trophy is part of the main game; the Tallneck in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds doesn’t count towards the total required to obtain the trophy.
